Colonel Hankinson Suite
Colonel Richard Hankinson put his dreams into action. He was a Civil War officer, an early pioneer in the expansion of the railroad, telegraph and telephone systems–bringing much-needed transportation and communication to the prairie. He developed varieties of apples right here on this property. Colonel Hankinson was also active in North Dakota politics, serving as a legislator.

This room is named after the Wipperman family who lived here for two generations. Max Wipperman Sr. purchased the land from the Hankinson family in 1929.
